Finding a plumber
How do I find a plumber near me?
Enter your postcode or the name of your town in the search box and press Search. You can also pick a service first if you already know what you need. Results show every plumber that covers the area you searched.
Can I search by postcode?
Yes. You can type a full postcode such as B1 9AB or just the district such as B1 — both work. Each result shows the district that matched your search, so you can see straight away that the plumber covers you.
Why do some areas show fewer plumbers than others?
Coverage depends on which districts each business has told us it works in, together with how far it is willing to travel. Every profile lists its covered areas and its travel radius, so you can see the reach of each plumber.
Can I save plumbers and compare them later?
Yes. Use the Save button on any search result or profile, then open Saved plumbers from the menu to see your shortlist. Your list stays on your own device — you do not need an account.
Prices and quotes
Are the prices shown on profiles fixed?
No. They are estimate ranges based on UK market rates, meant to give you an idea of what a job usually costs. The firm price comes from the plumber once they know the details of your job.
Why does the same job cost different amounts on different profiles?
Each business sets its own rates within the national range we publish for that job. Experience, workload, travel distance and overheads all differ, so two plumbers can quote differently for identical work.
What can push the final price above the range?
Work in London and the South East, emergency or out-of-hours call-outs, awkward access, premium materials, and anything that turns out to involve structural work can all cost more than the published range.
What does “From £85” on a category card mean?
It is the typical starting point for the least expensive job in that category. Bigger jobs in the same category cost more — open a profile to see the range for the specific job you need.
How do I get an exact price?
Request a quote and describe the job. Requesting a quote is free and does not commit you to anything. The plumber will confirm the price with you before starting.
Booking and the job itself
How do I request a quote?
Use the Request a quote button on a profile or in the search results, then describe the job, your location and when you need it done. We pass your request to the plumber, who contacts you directly.
Do I pay through this website?
No. We do not take payment for jobs. You agree the price and pay the plumber directly. We are here to help you find and check a plumber, and to step in if something goes wrong.
How quickly can someone come out?
That depends on the plumber's availability. When you request a quote you can mark the job as urgent, which tells them you need it seen within 24 to 48 hours.
Can I ask for a specific date?
Yes. Choose Specific date in the quote form and pick the day that suits you. You can also say you are flexible if the timing is not critical.
Checks, reviews and trust
How are plumbers checked before they appear here?
Businesses pass up to twelve checks before being listed, covering identity, qualifications and trading history. Any professional accreditations a business holds are shown on its profile.
Are the reviews genuine?
Reviews must be honest accounts of real work. We remove anything misleading, defamatory or offensive, and we do not allow businesses to write their own reviews.
How do I leave a review?
Open Leave a review from the menu, choose the company you used, give it a rating and tell other customers how the job went. It takes a couple of minutes.
What do badges like WaterSafe, CIPHE or APHC mean?
They are memberships and accreditations from UK plumbing industry bodies. Each one has its own standards for competence and conduct. A profile shows the ones that business has declared.
If something goes wrong
What does the £1,500 protection cover?
Overcharging or an inflated final price, poor or substandard workmanship, deadlines missed by more than three days, a no-show after you have paid a deposit, hidden damage caused by the work, and outright fraud. The limit is £1,500 per claim.
How long do I have to make a claim?
You have 90 days from the day the work was completed.
What happens after I submit a claim?
We call you within 24 hours, usually the same day. We look at your photos, receipts and description, then offer you the options that fit — a refund to your card in three to seven working days, a free or discounted redo by a partner firm, a new plumber to correct the work, or a combination.
What if the work was finished but I am simply unhappy with the quality?
That is covered. Any case where the work does not match what was agreed or what you reasonably expected is eligible for a claim.
Boilers, gas and what we do not cover
Do you cover boiler or gas work?
No. Gas appliance work in the UK must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, so we do not list boiler installations, boiler repairs or any other gas work. Everything on this site is plumbing work.
What kind of work can I find here?
Everyday plumbing and drainage — leaks and burst pipes, taps and valves, toilets and bidets, sinks and kitchen plumbing, showers and baths, blocked and damaged drains, appliance connections, pumps and water treatment, radiators, hot water cylinders, and full bathroom projects.
